Blackdown / Lata / Keysound / Dub / Breakbeat
A taste of Eastern promise as Blackdown returns for the second release on London's multi-culturally focussed Keysound recordings. Deep and mysterious dubstep doings, including a remix from Hyperdub's Burial.

Kid Blue / Nothing To Lose / Lot49 / Breakbeat / Electro-House
Hot on the heels of Vandal's phenomenal 'Obey' and its huge remix package, Meat Katie's Lot49 return with Kid Blue's 'Nothing To Lose'. A resident and founder of the renowned Technique club and the now legendary Chew The Fat, Kid Blue has won applause from Dj's across the genres for his energetic, techy and - as Dj Mag put it - intelligent take on house and breaks. This track is a microcosm of his exemplary sets.
His original mix uses easy swinging beats that soon develop into a tough power ride when that rolling monster of a bassline drops, reminiscent of some early Meat Katie or even Krafty Kuts (ca. Against The Grain) productions. Add to this the choice yet sparsely applied synth and spoken vox toppings and it's no wonder this is has been one of the label's most sought-after tunes since it was leaked at Miami in March.
No slacking on the remix front, either, as house man James Talk steps up to twist the original into a peaktime throbber. Tough bass, tough kicks, resonant springy snares, and interwoven electronic loops make this a track with appeal to the breaks, electro-house, and techy/house Dj's alike - as long as you like it dirty!
