Sychosis,
better known as Alexander Dias, was born on September
14, 1981, and hails from Hayward, Ca, a unusual
suburb of San Francisco.
Music has always played a large
roll in his life; in early childhood, he jumped
right into acting and singing at school plays, and
at the age of seven joined the Golden Gate Boys
Choir and Bell Ringers. An internationally known
childrens choir, all students are given formal classical
training in voice and music theory, and with them,
Alex toured Germany, Austria, Switzerland, France
and Italy.
One very memorable concert was performing
the New Years day Mass at St. Peters Basilica in
Rome, an unprecedented opportunity for someone so
young. The San Francisco Bay Area is a musicians
paradise, and even the high schools offer an array
of musical activities. Alex took advantage of the
many programs at Mt. Eden High School in Hayward,
participating in the extremely intense choir program,
including Mens and Concert Choirs as well as the
Chamber Singers, Jazz Ensemble, and Show Choirs.
Alex regularly competed on a statewide
and national level, both with the choir and as a
soloist. It was during this time that he became
aware of a second passion, the love of making and
producing music. This love led him to a brief stint
in the San Francisco State University Audio Production
program. More importantly though, he learned how
to DJ and became very involved in the San Francisco
rave scene.
As his love of electronic music
scene continued to grow, Alex was pivotal in the
start up of an all electronic music radio show,
The Bounce, broadcasting from Chabot Community College.
He also began producing independent electronic music
very heavily, and is still creating and producing
a fresh style of break beat, combining all of his
varied and diverse musical influences.
